Florida State University announced Friday the selection of Michael Jednak, a seasoned professional with more than 20 years of facilities management experience, as the university’s new associate vice president and chief facilities officer following a national search. Jednak will start Aug. 7.
Since 2013, Jednak has served as associate vice president for Facilities Operations at the University of Connecticut in Storrs, Connecticut, where he oversees all facilities operations, academic renovations, parking and transportation for the main campus, five regional campuses and agricultural extensions totaling 4,000 acres.
“Mike’s proven track record in facilities management at three public and private institutions will be critical as FSU continues to build and enhance our academic, student, research and support facilities,” said Kyle Clark, senior vice president for Finance and Administration. “His experience in building a strong culture of service, developing staff skills and increasing efficiencies will be a valuable asset as the university moves forward in reaching our strategic goals.”
At Florida State, Jednak will be responsible for guiding campus facilities, maintenance, utilities, grounds, building services, environmental health and safety, managing the department’s programs and policies, and sustainability.
FSU Facilities employs about 700 people who help manage more than 1,700 acres and nearly 400 buildings.
“I am excited to join the FSU community and be part of this great institution,” Jednak said. “FSU has always been on my short list of schools to advance my career. My wife, Colleen, and I are looking forward to embracing this next adventure.”
Jednak previously held facilities management positions at Boston College in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, and University of Saint Joseph in West Hartford, Connecticut. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the College of Holy Cross, where he garnered all-conference honors as a member of the football team.
