Florida State University kicks off Breast Cancer Awareness Month by hosting a pink lemonade stand as a part of a citywide effort headed by the Tallahassee Democrat to promote breast cancer awareness and support local families affected by the disease.
President John Thrasher and university administrators, along with members of the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority, serve pink lemonade and cookies for a suggested donation of $2. Visitors also can buy a pink flower for $1 to adorn the large pink ribbon next to the stand.
All money collected from the #GoPinkLemonade stands around Tallahassee will be donated to Joanna Francis Living Well, a local foundation that provides opportunities of support and financial assistance for unforeseen living expenses while living with terminal breast cancer.
